about

This album was recorded in my home in Princeton, NJ. The name of the album is 'fort nights' for three reasons. The first is that the album was recorded in roughly two weeks. Secondly, the fourth song on the album is about a very important two week period of my life. And finally, I've noticed recently that I live in two week periods - something almost always occurs every two weeks or so that changes the way I live, whether it be a haircut, falling in love with a girl, or simply the difference between writing and not writing. The idea for the name was put forth to me by a good friend of mine and it really stuck with me. Furthermore, the process of recording it was reminiscent of times as a kid when I would make a fort in my house and camp out. Sometimes with friends and sometimes alone, it felt like I was cooped up in a safe place for two weeks.

All of the songs were written, performed and produced by me (Lucas) with exception to the hammer-on-wood-plank track on 'two in two weeks', which was performed by Tyler Campellone.

I hope you find something you like about 'fort nights' and also some things that you don't. It's been my experience that the albums that turn out to be ones I really like seem to rub me a funny way at first. Don't hesitate to share your opinions - I'd love to hear them. You are, in a sense, getting an idea of what my dark and callous soul looks like (lolz). I set up the account so that you could choose to pay for it, but I really don't expect you to. I want this album to be given, not sold, but if you have no other way to express yourself, then doing so monetarily will also be appreciated.

Don't hesitate to contact me about gigs or if you want to know how I did something on the album, or even if you just want to talk about music. I welcome all comments and criticism and look forward to hearing your thoughts!

Tyler Campellone - hammer-on-wood-plank track on 'two in two weeks'.

Jack Stanford - supplying the wood plank on which the hammer was played.

Lucas Hamren - just about everything else.

My parents for feeding me and stuff, friends who came by and broke the monotony of listening to the same 10 songs over and over again, and every girl who has a song written about her on this album (I think there are 6).

about

Lucas Hamren Princeton, New Jersey

Hey! My names Lucas and I've been writing and recording music for about as long as I've known what a laptop is. I'm technically a student at NYU, but I'm taking a year off right now to do some traveling. Give my tunes a listen and tell me what you think! If you have a show you'd like me to play, just contact me and I'm sure we'll be able to work something out.

Hope you find something you like!
